Family flew in from Seattle for a mini-catastrophe, I took a few days off work, so now felt like a good time to give this site some love.

It turns out you won't make any new posts if every time inspiration strikes you must first open up your code editor, write a bunch of markdown and JSX, upload your images to s3 with a crusty script you don't even understand anymore, and then redeploy the site. Who knew.

(I ported everything to a new CMS over a flight 3 months ago, and then finished it today. Would be a fun thing to write up!)

"Headspace" is a funny thing. I'd say there were a few hours where I was deep in my best "photography headspace" this afternoon. Conditions for good headspace were favorable: I was tired and slightly hungover, blunting any overthinking/excess rationality, but still energized enough to be truly present and highly attuned to the environment. I find that I can only sustain this sort of hyperattentive-yet-serene mindset for a few hours before my mind gets exhausted and has to retreat, but it's amazing while it lasts.

I moved to Greenpoint, BK. First time I've had a lease since the beginning of Covid. It's very nice here, especially during summer, at sunset.
